1. The Representative on the Governing Board shall serve as liaison officer between the Branch and the parent Society, and shall represent the Branch in the conduct of the business of the Entomological Society of America. the representative shall serve for only one (1) full term and shall be ineligible for reelection, but may be appointed to fill an unexpired term immediately prior to his/her elected term of office and may continue to serve until the end of the elected term when a successor is elected. Ordinarily, the representative shall be one well-versed in the affairs of the Branch and willing to attend meetings of the Governing Board; in the case of his/her inability to attend, the President shall designate an alternate representative." (Eastern Branch Bylaws, Article II, Section 5).
2. The Representative on the Governing Board shall serve for 3 years, commencing with the close of the final meeting of the incumbent Board at the annual meeting of the Society first following the Representative's election." (ESA Constitution, Article VI, Section 5 in part).
3. In the event a ... Branch Representative is unable to attend a particular meeting of the Board, the ... President of the Branch concerned shall attend in his place or designate an alternate Representative." (ESA Bylaws, Article II, Section 1 in part).
